The re-release was pegged by many at the time as a remake, but Square producer Shinji Hashimoto offered some clarification to the Taiwanese website, Gamer (via Siliconera), at the 2012 Taipei Game Show. The FF10 re-release is actaully a remastering of the PS2 game rather than a remake. In other words, you can expect to play the exact same game you did in 2001, only with HD visuals (like the recent Ico/Shadow of the Colossus PS3 re-release).

I think one thing that would help the game sell is by enabling "transfarring" so that the game can be played on the PS3 and then the save can be taken on the go with the PS Vita version. A dual pack would be a nice touch too, such as selling both the PS3 and PS Vita copies for maybe $80 ... Many fans were disappointed in FF 13 and FF 13-2.
